The touring Goan sides continued their winning spree as they again beat the Kerala Cricket Association probables in their respective matches played at Mangalapuram ground, in Trivandrum.
Sportsweek elected to bat after winning the toss against KCA U-14 but quickly lost Soham Lolayekar (7). But Raunak Singh (13) and Shantanu Nevagi (30) stabilised the innings and thereafter it was Jarvis Falero who scored 40 not out in 30 balls to take Sportsweek to 131/4 in 20 overs.
The KCA U-14 batsmen could not negotiate the disciplined bowling by Sportsweek and they were restricted to 87/5 in 20 overs. Only Siddharth Sivaraman (34) and Rishikesh (15) could counter the sharp bowling. Soham Naik (2 for 10) bowled well for Sportsweek as Saiesh Gaonkar and Sarthak Dessai took one wicket each. In the other but closely fought match, MCA got the better of the KCA U-17 by 4 wickets in a low-scoring encounter. Shaunak Chodankar bowled a deadly spell of 4 for 14 to send back the cream of the KCA batting. Tushar Kudnekar (4 for 4) then polished off the tail and bundled the home side for paltry 58 in 17.4 overs. Abhishek Mourya and Bharat Choudhary took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, MCA decided to give their bowlers some batting practice but were soon in trouble as spinner Christin Phillip ran through the top order, taking 5 for 10. But Subhav Borker (19) and Tusar Patel (11) stabilised the MCA innings and surpassed the KCA total in 14.2 overs.
