The punishment given to FC Goa is unfair and harsh. Where are such rules written? In which books? Who docks 15 points from a league of 8 teams? Who bans owners for seasons together? This will totally dampen the spirits of football fans.

What a harsh decision by ISL to impose such a hefty fine. But what is more funny that both co-owner of FC Goa are banned and FC Goa should pay one crore fine to Chennai.....for what ??? May be prize money was too less and Chennai needs financial help because nobody is making films with Abhishek Bachchan.

Shaba Gaonkar, Sr Officer, MRF.

Emotions aside. Banning FC Goa is unfair. Disciplinary action against team owners is definitely a yes. A fine is on. 15 point deduction is harsh too. Yes, Elano's arrest was absolutely unwanted. Docked points understandable even though it's harsh...

- Shailen Signapurkar, Mapusa

I feel the judgment has been very harsh and unfair on FC Goa. It is a massive fine for not attending a prize ceremony. And starting the season with -15 points gives the players nothing to play for! Instead of giving people a reason to embrace the game, you are pushing them away.

- Rhys Mascarenhas, Partner of The Football Edge (Player Agency)

Black day for Goans. The ISL verdict is a loud and clear statement ‘Goan’s don’t play football.’ Shame to the rogues, who decided. May be even they were fixed. But it is really sad that Goa is being targeted.

- Dominic from GFA

It makes no sense at all. Football in India cannot be run without a Goan team. 11 crores fine and -15 points is crazy. What is the use of winning the matches and losing points? If that is so, better not to play this year.

- Franky Mendonsa, GFDC Coach

It is unnecessarily harsh. A financial penalty and banning of the owners would have sufficed. Penalizing the team by 15 points has virtually ensured that FC Goa will not have a chance of winning the title next season.

- Jensil Fernandes, Branch manager, DCB Bank

Never ever I have seen or heard about a football team (at any level) start with negative points at the start of a season. This is just unacceptable. How will football make progress in India with such things?

- Kaushik Fondekar, TYBCA, Damodar College, Margao

As an ardent FC Goan, it is catastrophic to hear about the strident penalties imposed on the team by ISL. The judgment was not at all right on the team. Why Rs 11 crores as penalty? More over why dock our team with 15 points?

The punishment handed out to FC Goa by the ISL regulatory commission to fine the club Rs 11 crore and docked 15 points next ISL season is not just harsh but unsustainable. It leaves FC Goa's 2016 ISL campaign in complete tatters, considering the short duration of the league. A league that just offers 42 points, 15 points is a huge penalty. If you take a look at the first two seasons of the ISL, the cut-off point for qualification for the semi-finals was 19 and 22 points…
