Mount Boys, Chandor defeated Naithik Boys, Chinchinim 2-1 to clinch the 5th All Goa seven-a-side mini lightning football tournament organised Mix Friends Boys of Mandopa at Mandopa Ground. The teams were tied 1-1 at half-time.
The first half turned to be an absorbing one with the teams adopting an aggressive approach. Mount Boys gradually started dictating terms and Peter broke the deadlock when he unleashed a stiff shot that crashed into the net. Naithik Boys quickly managed to equalise as Faydon punted the ball into the far corner of the net.
Post the break, Mount Boys showed urgency and a snap-shot by Richard proved to be the match-winner. Mount Boys had a few more scoring chances but they couldn’t stretch their lead. Mount Boys were awarded a prize of Rs 50,000 while Naithik Boys had to settle for an award of Rs, 30,000.
Richard Costa, Churchill Brothers SC footballer, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. The function was compered by Alusio Fernandes.
