The 5th GFA Vedanta Women’s League will kick off on Wednesday as reigning champion Sirvodem SC (now renamed Sirvodem PSA Dubai Sports Club) will lock horns with Compassion FC at Dramapur ground while new entrants United Club of Telaulim will cross swords with FC Goa at Navelim Ground. Both matches will kick off at 4 pm.

Six teams will compete in the competition. Sirvodem PSA Dubai SC will be challenged for the title by heavyweights FC Goa while Futebol Club YFA, Compassion FC, United Club of Telaulim and YBT Tonca will also look to put up a good show. YBT Tonca are the new entrants after the withdrawal of Churchill Brothers FC.

The team that wins the league would earn a spot in the national league, the Indian Women’s League. The matches will be played adhering to the Covid-19 protocols laid down by the authorities.

PLAYING ON WEDNESDAY, OCT 6: 5th GFA Vedanta Women’s League 2021-2022: UC Telaulim vs FC Goa, Navelim, 4 pm; Sirvodem PSA SC vs Compassion FC, Dramapur, 4 pm.

MARGAOMount Boys, Chandor defeated Naithik Boys, Chinchinim 2-1 to clinch the 5th All Goa seven-a-side mini lightning football tournament organised Mix Friends Boys of Mandopa at Mandopa Ground. The teams were tied 1-1 at half-time. The first half turned to be an absorbing one with the teams adopting an aggressive approach.
