Sandeep Heble, Secretary of Goa Badminton Association, has urged the State government to create separate facilities for hosting exhibitions and cultural activities, so there is no need to utilize sports stadia for such events.
“The State government must create one exhibition venue each in North Goa and South Goa, where exhibitions or cultural festivals on the lines of Lokotsav can be held. Art and cultural activities can be held all through the year at these venues, along with exhibitions,” Heble said.
“This will generate substantial revenue for Government and will boost local trades, Goan artisans and other cultural practitioners,” the GBA official suggested. “Sports facilities on the other hand should be kept restricted to the promotion and development of sports as utilising such facilities for other purposes derails training and hinders the progress of athlete and sport."
