Murod Vaddo Candolim registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Anna Vaddo to emerge champions of the 2nd Calangute Constituency Soccer 2018, played at Dr Gustavo grounds, Candolim, on Sunday.
In the very 2nd minute of play, Murod forged ahead as Nehal Naik, getting hold of a cross from Saish Bagkar, stabbed the ball into the rival goal, 1-0. Annavaddo tried their best to level terms but failed to get past the stubborn Murod defence. On crossing over in the 53rd minute, Stephen Dias netted in the insurance goal as he dribbled past a host of rival defenders and scored from top of the penalty box, 2-0.
President Duarte Fernandes and Secretary Jose Lopes introduced chief guest, Micahel Lobo, Deputy Speaker of Goa; Ophelia Sequeira, deputy Sarpanch of Candoilm; Fermino Fernandes and Ramkrishna Kerkarto to the teams and match officials.
Murod Vaddo received the winners cash prize of Rs 60,000 plus trophy, while Anna Vaddo had to be content with runners-up cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy. Chole Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks, while Bruno De Souza compered the finals.
