Nandhini wins France tourneys

Goa’s Nandhini Saripalli emerged victorious in the 17th Rochefort Open Category B and Noisiel Open Category B chess tournaments, held in France recently.

In Rochefort Open, Nandhini remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and secured 7.5 points out of the possible nine. The win helped her to gain 72 elo FIDE points. Nandhini was seeded 24th at the start of the tournament and she won a prize of 400 euros.

Nandhini continued her good form in the next tournament -- the 3rd Noisiel Open category B tournament -- where she scored seven points out of the possible nine. Nandhini added 44 FIDE Elo points by virtue of 

the result.

Meanwhile, Niraj Saripalli finished 44th in the 17th Rochefort grandmasters group as he managed to score five points. By virtue of the result, Niraj gained 47 FIDE elo points. Niraj, who also played in the 3rd Noisiel Open Grandmaster category, scored 5.5 points and won first place in the rating category of below 2200. 

He won a prize of 100 euros. His notable win was against Ukranian International Master Dmitry Stets. The tournament in Noisiel was held from February 24 to 28.
