Seventeen teams including four Higher Secondary Schools will take part in the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs' Nehru U17 Hockey Tournament for boys, which starts Monday at Hockey Stadium, Peddem-Mapusa.
Fr Agnel Higher Secondary School, Damodar English Higher Secondary School, DM's PVS Kushe HSS Assagao and Rosary Higher Secondary School are the four higher secondary schools, which will be seen in the tournament played on a knockout basis.
The other schools which will be seen in action are Holy Cross HS Bastora, Fr Agnel HS Pilar, St. Jude HS Betalbatim, Damodar HS Gudi, St Anthony HS Majorda, Anthony HS Guirim, Honda HS Honda, The Kings School SJA, St Joseph HS Calangute, Holy Cross HS Siolim, Our Lady of Lourdes HS Utorda and Janata HS Mapusa, Infant Jesus HS Colva.
In the first match, Fr Agnel HS Pilar will take on St Jude HS Betalbatim, on Monday at 2.30 pm. Of the teams taking part from North and South Goa, Holy Cross High School Bastora have got a first-round bye and will meet the winner of the match between Fr Agnel HS Pilar and St Jude HS Betalbatim, in the second-round tie.
In other matches, Damodar HS Gudi will meet St Anthony HS Majorda, on August 27, while Rosary HSS Navelim will square up to Fr Agnel HSS Pilar on August 28 and Damodar HSS Gudi will clash with St Anthony HS Guirim on August 29 in the top half of the draw. In the lower half of the draw, Honda HS Honda are drawn to meet The Kings School SJA, on August 28. Other matches will involve St Joseph HS Calangute taking on Holy Cross HS Siolim on August 29 while Our Lady of Lourdes HS Utorda meet Janata HS Mapusa on August 29 and on the same day Infant Jesus HS Colva will clash with DM's PVS Kushe HSS Assagao.
The third-place playoff will take place on Sept 3 at 10.45 am while the final will be played on the same day at 9.30 am.
