Nerul Sports Club registered a hard-fought solitary goal win over CDJ Ribandar to enter the semifinals of the 13th Reira Trophy 2019 inter village football tournament, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, played at Saligao Sporting Club ground, on Thursday.
The all important goal for the Nerul colts came in the seventh minute of play through Chetan Dabholkar, who entering the penalty box, slotted the ball into the far corner of the goal. Nerul did have a number of chances to increase the lead but their strikers seemed lost for ideas on entering the
18-yard box.
At the other end, the Ribandar colts did go all out in search of the equaliser but failed to penetrate past the strong Nerul defence.
On Friday, Augustias SC will take on HC Arambol in a quarterfinals match of the tournament at 4.45 pm.
