FC Goa were handed a 4-0 thrashing by Marco Materazzi’s Chennayin FC last weekend. The defeat would have surely shaken the confidence of the team as they embark on their first fixture on the road against NorthEast United FC.
Left-back Debabrata Roy and midfielder Denson Devadas are keen to forget the result against the Blue of Chennai and keen to add ‘aggression’ in their game.
“It's important for us to forget what happened and look to perform better in our next matches. We lacked aggression. It seemed we were not there in the game for the 90 minutes,” Roy was quoted as saying by a football website.
Echoing his words was Devadas who said, "We didn't know and understand what happened in the match. It's over, now we are here to play in Guwahati.”
Devadas pointed that the defeat was owing to failure of the entire team and hopes that this performance will never be repeated again during the course of the season. Roy was livid with his performance and vowed to better it from the next game.
Roy and Devadas were pleased to have got the chance to play alongside Lucio, Jofre Mateu and Leo Moura amongst the several star names assembled by the Gaurs.
"It's an honour to play alongside the likes of Lucio and Gregory Arnolin in defence. The leadership quality Lucio brings in is incomparable,” said Roy.
“It's unreal for me that Zico had seen me play and he wanted me in his team. The likes of Jofre and Leo Moura add such quality in the lineup. It’s great to be a part of this team,” added Devadas.
Both players also sized up their opposition ahead of the clash on Thursday and have already earmarked Nicolas Velez as the player to watch out for.
"NorthEast are a pacey unit. We have to cope with the likes of Velez and company,” assessed Roy while Devadas cited the unpredictable nature of the ISL.
"In the ISL, no team is predictable. We have to see game by game,” he mentioned.
FC Goa play their fourth match against North East United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium on Guwahati on Thursday.
