PES Ravi S Naik College of Arts and Science emerged victorious in the 1st inter-collegiate light-ball cricket tournament organised by Vikas Parishad Mandrem College of Commerce, Economics, and Management, in collaboration with the Village Panchayat of Mandrem.

In the two-day tournament featuring 15 colleges from across the State, teams battled fiercely for the top honour. Ultimately, it was PES, who clinched the title by defeating Goa College of Music, Panaji.

The tournament was coordinated by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, under the supervision of Rohit G Maulingkar, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, and Pratik Kannaik, Instructor in Physical Education.

Four Goan boxers win medals

Four out of six Goan boxers who participated in the Southern India Open Talent Hunt Boxing Competition in Bengaluru clinched medals and scholarships.

Raunak from RCC SDM secured a bronze in the Junior 55kg category, while Ashok, also from SDM, won a silver in the Men's Youth 51kg category. Sameer from GHS, Porvorim, also earned a silver in the Elite Men's 51kg category, and Shagun Shinde, currently at IIS, claimed a gold in the Junior Girls 51kg category.

The four boxers have been awarded scholarships from REC and will compete in the REC All India Finals at the National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) in Rohtak. If they secure a medal, they will qualify to join the National Camp.

Govt HS, Torse students win gold in athletics

Students of Government High School, Torse, Pernem, have achieved remarkable success in the North Goa District Level Athletics Meet.

Mahadev Tari (Class X) secured a gold medal in discus throw in the under-17 boys category while Pranjal Parab (Class VIII) earned a gold medal in long jump and a bronze medal in discus throw in the under-14 girls category. These two students have qualified for the State-level competitions at the Athletics Stadium in Bambolim. The Headmistress of the school, Rajshree Redkar, congratulated the students for their exceptional performance and commended the efforts of the physical education teacher, Saish Arolkar. Gaurav Naik, the teacher overseeing the competition, also provided valuable support.

Compassion FC rout Sirvodem SC 10-0

Compassion FC hammered Sirvodem Sports Club 10-0 in the Khelo Under-13 football tournament at Sinquetim Sports Complex, Navelim on Monday. Compassion FC outplayed their opponents in all aspects of the game, with Siya Naik securing a hat-trick. Sinjel Gaonkar and Prachi Gaonkar each contributed with one goal. Sahana Gaonkar scored five goals for Compassion in the rout.

Patrong humble Rising Star 9-0

A hat-trick by Natiq Shaikh enabled Patrong Sports Club to thrash Rising Star Sports and Cultural Club 9-0 in the GFA Second Division League at Chicalim Ground on Monday. Patrong led 4-0 at half-time. Patrong broke the deadlock when S Bhandare slotted past the rival goalkeeper in the 6th minute. Patrong continued to dominate, and Natiq, who was in full flow with his attack, punted the ball into the far corner of the net in the 9th minute. Ansh Shetkar put the issue beyond doubt in the 21st minute, and Vasant Bandekar added his name to the scoresheet in the 34th minute. Sadat Sayed struck twice in the 55th and 62nd minutes.
