Ponda's SAI, Training Centre emerge champs

In the boys final, Sports Authority of India (Ponda) prevailed over Sirlim Sports Club 5-4 via tie-breaker while Training Centre, Ponda overcome Our Lady of Rosary High School, Dona Paula 1-0 in the girls summit clash.

Sports Authority of India, Ponda and Training Centre, Ponda emerged Under 16 boys and girls champions respectively in the Indo-Gulf Cup football tournament organized by Bodyline Sports Club, Mumbai at SAG grounds, Assolna on Sunday.

In the boys section, Sports Authority of India prevailed over Sirlim Sports Club 5-4 via tie-breaker after both the teams werr locked goalless draw at the end of regulation period. Both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer.Both had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards were guilty of muffing gilt edged chances.

The second session continued in the same vein, with both the teams showing urgency though the match winner eluded them. SAI had the last laugh in the tie-breaker.In the girls section, Training Centre, Ponda overcome Our Lady of Rosary High School, Dona Paula 1-0.
