WRD quarters at Pajimol lying underutilised, dilapidated

The Water Resource Department’s quarters at Pajimol-Uguem, Sanguem, are lying underutilized and in dilapidated condition.

The WRD officials said the quarters have been taken up for repairs and some have been handed over to other departments.   
Most of the quarters are covered with water resistant sheets to avoid water leakage during the monsoon, while windows are broken, roof tiles of few quarters and wall have become weak and are on verge of collapse.   
Speaking to The Goan, a WRD officer on condition of anonymity said there are about 25 quarters which are divided into A, B, and C types as per the designation of the WRD employees. The quarters were built many years ago.   
When asked what steps have been taken to restore the quarters, the WRD officer said the renovation work on the quarters have been taken up by the department concerned.   
“Some quarters from ‘C’ type have been taken up for renovation. Some quarters have been given for accommodating other government department staff, one quarter has been given to set up Uguem Panchayat office as the construction work on the new panchayat ghar is going on,” added the officer.
