Parish Youth, Nuvem registered a 3-0 win over Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim to sail into the quarter-finals of All Goa 4th Shooting Stars Cup inter village football tournament organized by Margao Sports Club in association with Shooting Stars Sports Club, Colleavaddo-Assolna at Ambelim ground, on Wednesday. The match was goalless at lemon break.
After a barren first half, Parish Youth showed more urgency and their breakthrough came soon after when Macenzie Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a stiff shot. A lot was expected from Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim after trailing 0-1, but they looked jaded and failed to function as a unit.
Parish Youth doubled their lead midway in the second half when Inacio Afonso converted a spot kick after a rival defender handled the ball inside their penalty box. Josley Olveira rounded off the tally late in the second half when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
