Parish Youth, Nuvem prevailed over Sporting Club of Davorlim 6-4 via tie-breaker and stormed into the quarter-finals of South Goa McDowell's No 1 Yaari Premiere Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Cuncolim Union at Government School playgrounds, Cuncolim on Thursday. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of normal period.
Both the teams started the game on an attacking note and kept the crowds on their toes. As the match progressed further, Parish Youth's intentions were made clear as midway in the opening stanza when Schubert Colaco unleashed a shot it was blocked by Davorlim goalkepeer.
At the other end, Sporting Club of Davorlim did not lag behind as their forwards launched a barrage of attacks which either went straight into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper or missed the target. Perryson Rebello who stood firm in the rival defence came close in fositing the lead but Nuvem goalkeeper came to his side's rescue by fisting away for an abortive flag kick.
With the timming running, both the teams had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards misfired from handshaking distance.
Post resumption, both the teams showed urgency and better application with both team's forwards essaying meaningful forays into the rival territory.
Gammy Costa stole the thunder for Davorlim in the 47th minute with a stiff grounder, giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper. Sporting Club of Davorlim responded with a series of attacks and neutralized the lead when striker Selwyn Miranda received a through pass from Neville Miranda and the former beat the rival goalkeeepr with a rasping shot.
The remaining period of the game lacked the required intensity, with both the teams being guilty of mispasses as chances were few and far between.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Wellington Rocha, Selwyn Miranda, Bonnie Niasso, Venson Figureido and Parryson Rebello were on target for Parish Youth while Inacio Colaco, Clyde Pereira and Joe Gomes converted for Sporting Club of Davorlim.
