RCC-Salvador Do Mundo wins All-Goa junior and sub junior state boxing championship title

Panaji: RCC Salvador Do Mundo won the All-Goa Sub Junior and Junior Boys and Girls State Boxing Championship, organized by the Goa Amateur Boxing Association.

The three day tournament held at the Boxing Hall in Peddem saw 122 boxers from across Goa, representing 11 different centres.

RCC Salvador Do Mundo was crowned the champion of the tournament, scoring a total of 36 points. The club won 6 gold medals and 9 silver medals. RCC Peddem finished in second place with 7 gold medals and 2 silver, while RCC Fatorda secured third place with 7 gold and 1 silver.

The event featured some great matches and showcased new talent in Goa’s boxing scene. GABA President Francis Viegas expressed his satisfaction with the record turnout, noting that this was the largest number of participants in the history of the championship. "We had 122 boxers from across Goa, which is a record for us," said Viegas.

 Viegas added that GABA is working to expand the sport by opening new coaching centres in Vasco, Ponda, and Margao, and encouraging ex-boxers to get involved in coaching.

 In the Sub Junior category, the Best Boxer (Boy) award went to Veer Rana from RCC Peddem while Suman Patil from SAI Peddem won in the girl's category. 

 Shaurya Panchal from Jab and Box Club and Laxmi Lamani from RCC-SDM won the Promising Boxers title, respectively. 

In the Junior category, Sahil Shukla from RCC Peddem and Shagun Shinde from RCC SDM wete named as Best Boxers. 

Looking ahead, GABA will now focus on preparing boxers for the 38th National Games, which will be held in Uttarakhand from January to February 2025.
