Punishment should be meted out to guilty consistently for all the errors they commit and only football referees ought not be shielded, remarked Franky Godinho, president of Panchwadi United Sports Club who also doubles up as coach.
Godinho said, "players, officials and even bench staff have been penalised for various offenses. So one does not know if errant referees have also been penalised. We have brought to the notice of GFA, pointing out to the mistake and even some blunders committed by the supervising officials," commented Godinho.
"Once the referee commits a mistake, it is the team that suffers and there is no appeal on that count. His judgment is supreme and final. So what recourse do the teams have to rectify that and teams have to undergo the agony for no fault of theirs when the referee gives a bad decision," Godinho remarked .
Godinho pointed out that every match was being supervised by a match commissioner to oversee the match. That being the case, the performance of the supervision officials ought to have seen improving and shown a high degree of consistency, which he said was lacking in Goa.
"Mistakes, if genuinely committed, could be forgiven, but if made due to lack of appropriate knowledge then the teams are at the receiving end," thundered Godinho.
