A splendid hat-trick by striker Ronaldo Oliveira powered Salgaocar FC Juniors’ 6-0 rout of United Club of Telaulim (UCT) in the Geno GFA First Division League at SAG Artificial Turf, Fatorda on Thursday. Salgaocar Juniors led 1-0 at the break before they pumped in five more goals.
Salgaocar Juniors started the first half well. The attacking Ronaldo put the Telaulim team’s defence in jeopardy as he harassed the rivals with his speed and guile but missed three scoring chances with only the rival goalkeeper at his mercy.
Salgaocar’s breakthrough came at the stroke of lemon break when Ronaldo punted the ball in off captain Afif Pathan. The second half started with a flurry of attacks from Salgaocar Juniors who carved open Telaulim as they went on a rampage.
A quick interchange of passes saw Chaitan Komarpant get on the end of it and curl the ball into the net as they led 2-0 in the 49th minute. Ronaldo scored two quick goals as he curled the ball into the far corner in the
52nd minute.
Two minutes later, he stepped up and scored a penalty to score his team’s fourth and complete his hat-trick. Salgaocar scored their fifth with Prajat Mondal striking with an easy finish. The sixth goal didn’t take too long to come and it was Rollwin Almeida who scored through the legs of the Telaulim goalkeeper to complete the rout.
with this win Salgaocar Juniors took their tally to 16 points from 9 matches while United Club of Telaulim stay with 10 points from same number of encounters.
