Rosary College of Arts, Navelim got off to an impressive start to their campaign as they blanked their opponents 2-0 on Day 1 of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship in Mumbai on Friday.
In the College Boys category, Rosary College beat Indira College of Pune 2-0. After a barren first half, Rosary College were the dominant side and Sneeden Madeira broke the deadlock in the 70th minute. Jasper Pereira sealed the rivals' fate at the stroke of the final whistle.
In other matches, Nirmala College, Kochi made a mockery of their opponents Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati as they strolled to a 14-0 victory. The one-sided match saw three hat-tricks being scored by the boys in yellow with Jithin M finding the net four times (45’, 47’, 50’, & 78’) while Sachin Sivan (35’, 43’, 57’) and Abdul K (51’, 52’, 55’) completed the other two hat-tricks.
On the other hand, Government Higher Secondary School Panampally, Kochi registered a convincing 6-2 victory over Guwahati’s Rajdhar Bora High Secondary School in the Senior Boys category. Main striker Adarsh AS sealed the fate of the opponents with a hat-trick (37’, 90’ & 93’).
