The Goa Congress on Tuesday took strong objection to a meeting of BJP workers and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Goa Legislative Assembly complex and termed the meeting as “gross abuse of power”.
“We strongly condemn the action of the BJP to hold a meeting at the assembly complex. CM Parrikar should act responsibly. This type of gross misuse of power should not happen further,” Congress spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar said. A day after his return from the US, Parrikar addressed BJP workers in the assembly on June 16.
Panjikar said that the BJP has set a wrong precedence by this act. “This type of BJP culture is dangerous to the society. How can the BJP hold a meeting in a constitutionally sacred building?” Panjikar asked.
Panjikar also recalled how last year (July 1, 2017) BJP President Amit Shah addressed a public meeting at the Goa airport complex misusing a sensitive installation.
BJP has not learnt from its past mistakes even after the Congress had at that time brought to light the misuse of power, said Panajikar.
The Raj Bhavan premises is also being misused a number of times in the same fashion, alleged Panjikar.
