Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda and Don Bosco Farm School, Sulcorna, romped into the quarter-finals of Late Ramnath D Volvotkar U-17 invitational inter-school football tournament organised by ‘Insight’ the Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs and Charity in association with DSYA, Damodar English HS and Damodar HSS of Gudi Paroda, at Gudi ground on Wednesday.
In the first match of the day, OL Rosary HS of Fatorda trounced OL of the Mother of Poor HS of Tilamol 3-0. There was no score at the breather. Joswel Cardozo opened the scoring for OL of Rosary school at the start of the second session. Syndroy Araujo doubled the lead off a pass from Ashley Furtado. Jordon Azavedo made the issue safer for Fatorda school scoring the third goal in the dying minutes of the match. Joswel Cardozo of OL of Rosary HS was declared as player of the match.
In the another match, Don Bosco Farm School of Sulcorna had to wait till the tie-breaker to shoot out Mount Mary’s HS of Chinchinim 5-4 (1-1) to enter into the last-eight stage of the tournament. Jortun Fernandes of Don Bosco HS gave the lead to his team in the 12th minute of play. Later, Shario Gomes equalised for Mount Mary’s HS with just three minutes left for the final whistle. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Franky Cardozo, Mylon Fernandes, Leon Fernandes, Anmol K and Jamson Pereira scored for Don Bosco Farm School while Shenoy Fernandes, Rajveer Pal, Pratik C, and Aron Cardozo shot on target for Mount Mary’s HS. Jortun Fernandes of Don Bosco Farm School was awarded player of the match prize.
