Sports Authority of Goa successfully conducted the first Ringo stick tournament for ‘Special Children’ as part of its first state level sports competitions for ‘Special School Children’ at the SAG Athletics Stadium, Bambolim.
Twenty-two Intellectually Disabled (ID) teams including 13 boys and 9 girls units from 14 ‘Special Schools’, 8 Hearing Impaired teams ( 5 boys and 3 girls) took part in the competition. SAG Executive Director, V M Prabhudesai declared the tournament open while Sagar Shetye, President of Keshav Seva Sadhna Special School, Bicholim, graced the finals. Sr. Monica Coelho (Principal, St Xavier’s Academy-Old Goa), Sanjana Prabhudessai (Principal, KSS Bicholim), Kaushika Makwana (Principal, Gujarati Samaj Special School-Margao), Manjiri Jog (Incharge, KSS Valpoi) were the other dignitaries present.
This is the third tournament in the series for the Special School Children with athletics and bocce being held prior to the Ringo stick tournament, while swimming competition is scheduled to be held shortly, says the press note emailed by SAG
