Salgaocar Football Club inflicted a 4-1 defeat on Nepal’s Sankata Club in their Group A quarterfinals league match of 4th CEM Gold Cup at Kansa Stadium, Diphu, Assam
on Tuesday.
Salgaocar FC led 2-0 at half time. The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by striker Ronaldo Olveira.
Anthony Levino Pereira’s boys produced a solid combined performance to garner full three points. The green brigade took off in an attacking mode and maintained the high tempo right through. Ronaldo broke the deadlock and completed his brace in the first half. Salgaocar continued to dictate terms in the second half and Ronado completed his first hat-trick. Devendra Murgaonkar scored the fourth goal for
the Greens.
After the match, Salgaocar coach Pereira said, “This was a tough match for us since we were fighting against a Nepalese team. I am pleased with the performance of the boys. They showed real dedication to win.”
Salgaocar FC will next meet Java Lane Club, Sri Lanka in their last quarterfinals league match on March 9.
