Salgaocar Junior pump 10 past Seraulim

MARGAO

Salgaocar FC Juniors overwhelmed USC Seraulim 10-0 in a round 2 clash of the GFA Under-14 League at the Seraulim ground on Monday.

The star of the day was Kenneth Da Costa who netted his second hat-trick of the competition and finished the evening with four goals to add to his tally of five scored on the opening day. Salgaocar were off the blocks and were a goal up as a corner from Rohit Naik resulted in a scramble in the box with Kenneth the quickest to react, toe-poking the ball home.

In the 25th minute, Movin Gaunkar made a strong run out of defense, took on a host of players and found Meldon on the left who in turn found Kenneth inside the box with an inch perfect cross, the last named shooting over from close range. The Greens did double their lead in the very next minute as Frazer Edmag put Kenneth through. The latter used his strength to shake off two defenders and calmly slot home. In the 31st minute, it was 3-0 as yet again it was Kenneth who brought under control a fine cross by Mouvin and finished in some style to leave the keeper stranded.

At the half-time Salgaocar led 3-0 and it was the Greens' No 9, Kenneth who kicked off the goal rush in the second half. The striker sent home a fine through by substitute Amber Rodrigues in the 39th minute. The Greens scored again 10 minutes later. Amber found Antush in the box after a run down the left and the latter rounded past the keeper to tap into the net.

Two minutes later it was 6-0 as Wayne Fernandes won the ball smartly around 30 yards out and played a smart through ball to Mouvin, who slotted home calmly. It was then the turn of Wayne Fernandes to add his name to the scoresheet after he finished a cross from Meldon Oliveira, who had an outstanding second half with excellent runs down the left, taking on defenders at will. In the very next minute another fine cross by Meldon saw the ball headed out only as far as Melroy Borges around the 6-yard box who headed home powerfully.

With six minutes to go, the Greens scored their ninth as Frazer bulged the net with a screamer from just inside the box after Rohit on the left had found him with a long diagonal ball. With a minute to play, Mouvin scored his second of the evening after being put through by Amber Rodrigues.
