Fr Agnelo Sports and Cultural Club, Paroda, advanced to the next round of the 2nd Parish Cup 2025 with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Betalbatim Sporting Club at the Nuvem Ground on Thursday. The decisive moment came in the 45th minute when Savio Vales found the net, sealing victory for the Paroda side. Betalbatim Sporting Club created several opportunities but failed to convert. Savio Vales was named Man of the Match.
Ugem Rising move into last-four
MARGAO: Ugem Rising Club entered the semifinals of the 3rd Late Uday Shirodkar Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament after edging past hosts Shiroda Youth Club 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout at the Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Complex, Karai-Shiroda, on Thursday. Both teams produced attacking football and shared chances but remained goalless at full time, sending the contest into a tiebreaker. Ugem converted through Israel Gomes, Clive Gomes, Rutik Bandodkar, Chiraj Gaukar and Maxson Lopes, while Shiroda scored via Royston Vaz, Climax Fernandes, Shawn Colaco and Elton Cruz. Ugem’s Rutik Bandodkar was awarded the Man of the Match prize, which was presented by former footballer Bibiano Fernandes.
Fencing trials on Nov 29
PANAJI: The Goa Fencing Association will conduct selection trials for both the men’s and women’s categories on Saturday, November 29, at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, starting at 3.30 pm. Interested fencers have been asked to report at the venue and contact coach Deepak Singh Rajput for further details. The trials will serve to select Goa’s squad for the Junior National Fencing Championship 2025-26, scheduled to be held in Cuttack, Odisha, from January 5 to 10, 2026. Participants have been instructed to attend with their personal fencing swords, headgear and full it.
