Sherwin wins scrabble tourney

Mumbai-based Sherwin Rodrigues emerged the champion amidst a highly competitive field of over 50 wordsmiths from across the country at the three-day 14th All India Open Scrabble Tournament organised by the Scrabble Association of Goa that concluded at PCCE College, Verna on Sunday.

The top-10 prize winners are as follows: 1.Sherwin Rodrigues (Mumbai,19 points, +1545 spread), 2. Udayan Grover (Pune, 19, +1202), 3. Ranganathan Chakravarthy (Chennai,18, +2119), 4. Ralph Lobo (Muscat/Goa, +1277), 5. Sheikh Ahmed (Hyderabad, 15 wins, +842), 6. Jacky Fernandes (15, +304), 7. Varisht Hingorani (Mumbai,14,+898), 8. Manju Sood (Bengaluru,14,+782), 9.Yash Potnis (Bengaluru,14,+263), 10. Mohan Chunkath (Chennai, 14,+192). Spot prizes were also awarded.

Tournament Director Ashok Bhandarkar from Pune gave away the cash prizes and trophies and Mukhesh Adhia compered.

Agnelo treble sinks Dempo SC
