Six RFYS players for U-22 AFC Championship qualifiers trial camp

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) has unearthed some great raw talent in its inaugural year and the efforts have been noticed by AIFF scouting team headed by Abhishek Yadav, Director- Scouting and COO of FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, as six players from RFYS have been invited to attend the under-22 AFC Championship Qualifiers trail camp. The trial camp will be administered by the Indian Coaching staff, led by Head Coach Stephen Constantine, at the Andheri Sports Complex from May 16 to 18 and the deserving players stand a lifetime opportunity to join the under-22 National team camp.

The 6 RFYS youngsters participated in RFYS 2016 and have showcased some exquisite footballing skills, both individually and as a team, to be hand-picked for one of the greatest opportunities of their life. Shanon Pereira (Maharashtra), Gary Martin (Maharashtra), Ajith Sivan (Kerala) and Akshay Joshy (Kerala) are the one’s plying their trade from the center of the park. Umesh Perambra (Maharashtra) is the reliable center-back, while Renaldo (Maharashtra) is the one with the striking boots on. 
Umesh is a rock solid defender, who scored two goals for Thakur College, and also helped keeping clean sheets in the process. His teammate Shanon, boasts of a great work rate and good set of individual skills. These two were instrumental in their college’s run to the semi-finals of the National Championships. 
Akshay of Sacred Heart College is another midfielder who has fine touches and good passing skills. He played an influential role in taking his college to the City Championship final in Kochi. Ajith Sivan is also a commendable midfielder who is great with the ball at his feet, and scored a goal en route taking Nirmala College to the National Championships final. And finally, there is Renaldo, a clinical and opportunistic striker who helped Rizvi College reach the final of the City Championship in Mumbai.
Speaking of the six RFYS kids being selected for the trial camp, Abhishek Yadav, said, “We are extremely glad to scout some raw talent from RFYS matches at Maharashtra and Kochi. The important aspect about RFYS’ efforts is that more options are being provided to the Indian National team  Coaches for selection. This is also a huge opportunity for the scouted boys to be at trials under the supervision of Head Coach, Stephen Constantine. It will help them grow as professional footballers.”
