Snow’s FA Raia played their hearts out to register a 2-1 win over Penha De France SC in the GFA U-18 Division II, all-Goa finals at Navelim Ground on Saturday.

The first half saw Snow's FA Raia take an early lead as Royson Colaco found the back of the net in the 45+2 minute, giving his team a 1-0 advantage going into halftime. Snow's FA Raia continued their dominance in the second half, with Livon Dias extending their lead with a well-executed goal in the 58th minute.

However, Penha De France fought back as I Khan pulled one back for his team in the 68th minute. But Snow's FA managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle, securing a hard-fought victory.

United Boys thrash OL Gloria 9-0
United Boys of Ambaulim blanked Our Lady of Gloria SC 9-0 in the GFA Second Division League all-Goa finals on Saturday at Benaulim Ground.

Teron Fernandes opened the scoring in the 7th minute, setting the tone for what would become a dominant performance. Rayson Carvalho made two clinical finishes in the 18th and 41st minutes, while Royal Oliveira added to the tally with a well-taken goal in the 29th minute. The first half ended with United Boys of Ambaulim holding a commanding 4-0 lead.

Their dominance continued in the second half as Teron Fernandes added to his tally, securing a brace with another goal in the 65th minute. Carvalho shot the ball on target once again in the 74th minute, leaving the opposition defence helpless. Denis Oliveira then took centre stage, scoring two quick goals in the 78th and 85th minutes, securing a remarkable brace.

Carvalho, not to be outdone, completed a superb quadruple in the 87th minute, capping off a truly remarkable performance from United Boys of Ambaulim.

In another match played at Duler ground, Chapora Yuvak Sangh defeated Vagator Parish Youth SC 3-1 in the GFA Second Division League.

YSC Colvale reach Nerul Cup final
Youth Sports Club of Colvale defeated St Sebastian SC of Mapusa by a solitary goal to enter the final of the Nerul Cup football tournament at Nerul football ground. The all-important goal of the match was scored by Yash Narvekar in the first session.

Chess: Mandar takes sole lead
At the end of the eighth round of AICF's Chess For Everyone Fide Rating chess tournament, top seed Mandar Lad (Fide rating 1961) of Bardez took the sole lead by beating Sachin Gaude in the seventh round and top contender Rishikesh Parab of Mormugao in the penultimate eighth round. Previous joint leader Paarth Salvi (1623) of Bardez drew with Ayush Pednekar of Salcete in the seventh round and beat Sairaj Vernekar in the eighth round to be in second position.

Sachin Gaude (1485, Ponda) beat Shaikh Samad of Maharastra in the eighth round to be on 6.5 points and in the third position. On the fourth board, Ayush Pedenkar drew with Saras Pawar in the eighth round. Edrick Vaz of Salcete (1396) drew with Sagar Shenoy of Maharastra (1417) on the fifth board and on the sixth board, Alex Sequeira (1277, Salcete) drew with Rupesh Bate of Maharastra (1411).

Academic football championship at St Cruz
PANAJI: Mummy's Goa Helping Hands & Come And Play Football Coaching Centre organised an All India Academic Football Championship at St Cruz village ground for U-18 and U-12 boys from May 25 to 28. Ten academies -- CAPFCC Goa, United Studz Hyderabad, CFA Kerala, FLA Mumbai, Pune SC, Delhi SA, Lifeco Kerala, CSSC Pune -- participated in the tournament. Local MLA Rudolfo L Fernandes and Tushar Bhagat, CAPFCC head, attended the opening.
