St Rock Majorda made their maiden entry into the Cavelossim Panchayat Rolling Trophy finals by beating hot favourites Varca SC 2-1 in the inter-village football tournament sponsored by Cavelossim Panchayat and organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim.
Majorda with a strong half line of Beevan and Russel drew first blood in the very second minute of the match when Irfan Lal took a snap-shot which went into the right-hand corner of the Varca goal, giving no chance to Mahamad under the bar. Irfan had another easy chance when he shot from the edge of the box but missed the target.
Crossing over, Majorda tried to increase the lead and succeeded when Russel Fernandes gave an accurate pass to Lanny, who easily tapped the ball into the Varca goal for a 2-0 lead.
Varca did attack with Aaron and Clayton combining well but often failed to cross the ball into the centre at the right time. Aaron made amends when in a solo move, he volleyed a long-ranger from the centre which was misjudged by the Majorda keeper to reduce the margin for Varca.
The Man of the Match prize was awarded to Irfan Lal of Majorda at the hands of PI Therron D'Costa of Colva Police Station. Sarpanch Dixon Vaz was present.
