St Francis de Assisi (2) Igreja won the First Inter Somudai ( SCCs) 5- A-Side Tie-Breaker Football Tournament organised by St. Francis Xavier Church, Chicalim, (Deusa Sector) as part of the Quadricentennial Celebrations of the Parish of Chicalim at the Panchayat ground, Chicalim.
They defeated Marie Imaculada Somudai, Regina Mundi in an exciting finals. Earlier the 32 teams participating in the tournament took part in an impressive marchpast.
Later, the Team Captains were introduced to Fr Bolmax Pereira Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Chicalim, Ruby Rodrigues former Sarpanch of Chicalim and Francisco Nunes , GFA Esco. Member in the presence of a large number of Parishioners and the Organising Secretary Sertorio Rodrigues.
In the semifinals, Marie Imaculada Somudai, Regina Mundi defeated formidable Our Lady of Vailankanni Somudai, Rendrabhatt while in the second semifinals St Francis de Assisi Somudai Igreja (2) got the better of St Theresa of Kolkata Somudai, Deusa Grande.
A few of the Sports Personalities from the Parish namely Peter Vales, Former Player, Coach and Manager of Clube de Salgaocar, Maymol Rocky, former player and coach of the Indian Women Football Team, Succorine d Costa Former International Womens Football Player, and SAG coach Succorine Costa were felicitated by the Parish Priest.
Seby Abranches, Minguel Lucas, Luis Fernandes, Succorine Costa officiated the matches.
The presentation of Trophies and cash prizes was done Fr Bolmax Pereira, Fr Peter Fernandes, Asst Parish Priest, Peter Vales, Maymol Rocky, Atish Vaz and Rizzeria Pacheco as Chief Guest.
Individual awards were given to the following

Best Goalkeeper: Aaron Fernandes ( St Francis de Assisi)
