St Rita High School, Maina Curtorim overcame the challenge of Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna 2-1 to march into the finals of 4th St Joseph Vaz memorial under-17 inter school boys football tournament, organised by Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim at Church ground, Chinchinim on Monday.
Regina Martyrum started the game aggressively and Crosly Luis put his team in front in the 15th minute. Post resumption, St Rita’s were a dominant lot with Jovial Dias in the forefront of their attacks. In the 36th minute, Jovial equalised with a snap shot and later struck the match winner late in the match.
In another semifinal, Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda blanked St Rock’s High School, Tolleacanto 3-0. The highlight of the match was a brilliant brace by Maxwell Furtado. Valjoe Pinto scored the other goal for the winners.
The finals will be played on January 16 at 4.30 pm on the ocassion of St Joseph
Vaz feast.
