Unbeaten Milagres Sports Club continued on their winning streak as they managed to edge past Pilerne Sports Club by 2-1 margin in the GFA’s 2nd Division League played at Poriat grounds, here on Monday.
Milagres colts, who had won their last three league matches, dominated in the 90 minutes of duel where they went into the breather with a two goals cushion, with Albino Gomes and Lesten Martins doing the scoring acts. In the very 3rd minute, an intelligent through pass by Jolan Fernandes saw Albino get hold of the ball and outsmart the onrushing Pilerne keeper and score, 1-0. Milagres doubled their lead in the 35th minute where an assist from Jolan was converted by Lesten Martins with a neat placement, 2-0.
On crossing over, Milagres strikers failed to increase the tally due to some fine defending by the Pilerne defenders and some fine saves by the opposition keeper. Pilerne colts also had their chances but they managed to find the target only in the 93rd minute, where Creig Menezes’ free kick was headed into the goal by Anson D’Souza.
In between, the match referee Yuvraj Tari cautioned three of Pilerne and two of Milagres players for rough play.
