Goa’s Perpetual Succour HS Convent Navelim scored a resounding 5-0 win over The Air Force School their first win of the group and kept their chances alive of qualifying for the next phase of the Subroto Cup U15 tournament in Bengaluru.
The Navelim School, now have four points from two matches with one and one draw and need to win in the final and concluding match of the group today against St. Stephen's School, Chandigarh.
Perpetual Succour started on attacking mode as a victory was important to keep them in the competition. It did not take long for the Goan school to open the account with Anosh Vaz breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute with a powerful shot. The teams went into the half time break with the score reading 1-0.
In the second half, the Goa school scored their second goal through Farhan Lathewale assisted by Emmanuel Gama in the 35th min. From there on it was a goalscoring spree for Goa. Royden Carvalho scored a hat-trick in the 41, 46, 48 minutes. The final score was 5-0.
The Goa school will play the Chandigarh school on Friday at 8 am. Perpetual Succour had drawn goalless with St. Xavier's HS Lupungutu, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand in their first match. It's a must-win match for Goa to qualify for the quarterfinals.
The other Goan team, 01 Goa Battalion NCC registered their first win registering an impressive 3-0 win over Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Messi Rebello, Andreas Furtado and Nethan Fernandes scored one goal apiece for 01 Goa Battalion NCC to give the team their first win in the four-team group. NCC led 2-0 at the end of half-time.
They play their last league match on Friday.
