Sun Moon & Stars entered the finals of Vanxim Divar Veterans Cup 2015 with a 5-4 tie-breaker victory over Tuff Veterans at Monfort grounds, Corlim.
Tuff Veterans striker Lino Pereira gave the lead with a beautiful volley early in the first half off a defensive lapse from the opponents.
Sun Moon and Stars, Chandor replied with an equaliser from Anthony Peixote with a strong header off a delightful cross from Egidio D'Costa from the right flank.
Nicholas Rebello defended extremely well to prevent the Tuff Strikers from scoring. For Tuff Veterans, Alex,Jerry and Bruno Coutinho controlled the midfield but were unlucky to find the back of the net. At half time, the score was tied at 1-1.In the second half, both the teams tried to gain the lead but the game ended in a draw.
In the tie-breaker,Egidio D'Costa, Patricio Mascarenhas, Agnelo Dias, Nicholas Rebello and Tony Travaso scored for Sun Moon and Stars, Chandor while Lino Pereira's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Sun Moon & Stars will meet Viva North Veterans in the finals to be played on December 21 at Campal grounds, Panaji.
