MARGAO: In an evenly contested match, both the teams played attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Both had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered from ideal positions. Navelim Villagers slowly took over the reins and had a chance to surge ahead when Clinton Niasso moving inside the rival penalty box. However, Hayson Velho foiled him in the nick of time. Once again Navelim Villagers were unlucky when Covan Lawence’s solo run into the rival box was well blocked by rival goalkeeper Jose Colaco. At the other end, Parish Youth did not lag behind and came close in taking the lead when striker Gammy Costa’s stiff shot was well blocked by Navelim Villagers goalkeeper Dalwin Costa. Post resumption, both the teams played aggressively and went all out in search of the elusive match winner but yielded no result. At the fag end, both the teams went all out but rival defenders stood tall in protecting their citadel. In the ensuing penalty shoot out, Inacio Colaco, Gammy Costa, Schubert Colaco and Schubert Pinto were on target for Parish Youth while Joseph Gomes, Anil Shivolkar and Avlon Gomes found the mark for Navelim Villagers Union. Parish Youth Nuvem will meet Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the finals on June 18.
