Goa’s Tanisha Crasto along with her partner Ishaan Bhatnagar from Chhattisgarh secured a bronze medal in senior mixed doubles category at the Yonex Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament at Pune.
The junior players competing in the senior category knocked out a few high -ranked senior pairs on the way before going down fighting 17-21, 17-21 to the number 6 seeded pairing of Krishna Prasad and Ashwini Bhat in the semifinals to settle
for bronze.
Meanwhile, South Asian Games gold medallist Ruthvika Shivani Gadde roared back to form by taking the women’s singles title while 10th seed Siddharth Pratap Singh triumphed in men’s singles.
The unseeded Gadde made short work of 13th seed Shruti Mundada 21-10, 21-17 in a final that lasted just 35 minutes. In men’s singles, a day after knocking out the top seed Ansal Yadav, 10th seed Singh beat 14th seed K Jagadeesh 23-21, 21-15 in the title clash.
