Two Margao based doctors, Dr Akhil Lawande (33) and Dr Suhel Nagarsenkar (32) have successfully completed the gruelling Half Ironman Triathlon event organised by the Chennai Trekkers Club in Chennai on December 17.
The Half Ironman Triathlon comprises 1.9 kms of swimming, 90 kms of cycling and a 21 kms half Marathon run to be completed back-to-back within 9 hours.
While Dr Suhel Nagarsenkar completed the tough race in 7 hours 25 minutes, Dr Akhil Lawande completed the same event in 7 hours 37 minutes.
Dr Suhel Nagarsenkar, a paediatrician had completed the Goa Olympic Triathlon in February 2016 in 3 hours 20 minutes, while Dr Akhil Lawande, a gynaecologist had completed the same race in 3 hours 30 minutes. Both doctors are members of the Propedalerz Cycling Club of Margao and take part regularly in 21 km half Marathon runs.
