United Club of Verna secured a resounding 4-0 victory against Sinquerim Sports Club, propelling them into the quarter-finals of the 16th London Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at the Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
The momentum swung in favour of United Club of Verna early on when Frazer D'Costa found the net in the 10th minute. Mecklito D'Costa doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
United Club of Verna continued their dominance in the second half, with Mecklito completing his brace in the 47th minute. Elrich Fernandes compounded Sinquerim's woes with a goal in the 69th minute. Rajat Naik of Sinquerim SC received a caution from the referee, Jan Rodrigues.
Mecklito D'Costa's stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by Laxman Hadfadkar, Executive Committee Member of GFA.
