Vasco Veterans made short work of Albert Developers Merces Veterans 2-0 to clinch the 6th All Goa Veterans football trophy organized by Boys of Loutolim/Camorlim in association with Jose Cookies Veterans in the finals at Church grounds, Loutolim on Sunday.
Vasco Veterans were well served by former international and state players, especially Derrick Pereira rekindling his old magic enjoyed the better ball possession and sounded the warning to the rival team and in the very 4th minute Francisco D'Souza's shot was well blocked by rival goalkeeper after Derrick Pereira laid him on the platter. Vasco Veterans broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Uday Naik captailised the rival's yawning gaps and punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Crossing over, Albert Developers were desperately looking for the equalizer but Vasco Veterans were stubborn at the back and never allowed their opponents to strike rhythm.
Vasco Veterans sealed the rival's fate late in the second half when former India defender Derrick Pereira's thumping header gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper off a well measured floater from Vincent Colaco. Albert Veterans were considered unlucky when Prem hit the cross bar at the fag end.
