Agxem SC enter semis via tie-breaker win

MARGAO

Agxem SC booked their place in the semifinals of the 9-a-side Curtorim Interward Football Tournament 2026 after edging past Eclate FC 7-6 in a tie-breaker at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organised by Sporting Club Virabhat.

Agxem took the lead in the 10th minute through Micheal Paes and held the advantage until halftime as Eclate FC failed to convert several chances.

Eclate restored parity in the 35th minute when Anthony Fernandes found the net. Micheal Paes struck again five minutes later to put Agxem back in front at 2-1, but Joy Hilario equalised for Eclate in the 45th minute to make it 2-2.

Eclate came close to snatching victory in the dying moments, but Agxem goalkeeper Agnelo Gomes produced a fine save to deny Aliston Fernandes.

With the scores level at full time, the match was decided through a tie-breaker, where Agxem prevailed 5-4.

For Agxem, Nickson, Agnelo, Savio, Micheal and Diago converted their spot-kicks, while Aliston, Afileo, Nesly and Prakash scored for Eclate.

Micheal Paes of Agxem SC was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Savio Fernandes, former president of Curtorim Gymkhana.
