Alpha Boys came out on top in a heart-stopping inter-ward football tournament semifinal against Holy Cross Vaddie 4-2 via the tie-breaker, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim.
Alpha Boys dictated the first half, controlling midfield with the skillful passing of Preston and Styrus. However, their finishing touch faltered, and clear-cut chances went unconverted.
Holy Cross Vaddie returned from the break with renewed energy. Kayden and Levy led their attack, putting the Alpha defense under significant pressure. But the resolute defensive partnership of Osbourne and Deepak held firm, denying Holy Cross any breakthroughs.
With the deadlock unbroken after regular time, the tension escalated as the game went to penalties. Alpha Boys displayed nerves of steel, with all four of their takers “ Enosh, Cayden, Deepak, and Osbourne “ converting their penalties. Holy Cross Vaddie, on the other hand, managed only two successful conversions from Maxwell and Elton.
