Arlem Youth shoot into Mandopa Soccer quarters

Arlem Youth Association secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Mandopa Soccer inter-village football tournament after defeating Margao SC 4-3 in a thrilling tiebreaker at the Mandopa ground in Navelim.

Despite missed opportunities from Elroy Barreto and Alton Cardozo in the first half, Rio Borges managed to give Arlem YA an early lead in the 7th minute, which was later equalised by Michael Dias of Margao SC. The tie-breaker saw Arlem YA's Joswell Cardozo, Garrison Fernandes, Klins Mendes, and Mouvin Gauncar scoring, while Roque Borges, Charles Miranda, and Myron Fernandes were successful for Margao SC.

Agxem SC down Damdolem 2-1
Agxem Sports Club emerged victorious over Damdolem Sports Club 2-1, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the 9-a-side inter-ward football tournament organized by Sporting Club of Virabhat Club at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Thursday.

The match saw Agxem SC take the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal from Alroy Gomes, followed by an impressive strike from Melvin Cardozo in the 39th minute, thanks to a cross from Succor Cardozo. Despite Anthony Cardozo's brilliant defence, Agxem had several chances to score, ultimately leading to Alroy Gomes' match-winning goal in the 49th minute. The man of the match prize was awarded to Alroy of Agxem SC.

Delton hat-trick powers SC Davorlim
Delton Colaco netted a hat-trick as Sporting Club Davorlim blanked Betalbatim SC 3-0 to enter the quarterfinals of the Chandor Seamen inter-village football tournament played at Chandor ground.

Delton Colaco gave the lead to SC Davorlim in the 25th minute off a pass from William Niasso. Sporting Club Davorlim dominated the entire second session and scored two more goals. Delton Colaco increased the lead with his second goal in the 47th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute.

MARGAOAniket Ekka of Naval School won the Independence Day Cup Mormugao Taluka open Chess tournament organised by Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (under the aegis of Goa Chess Association) at Chicalim Sports Complex, Vasco. The Swiss league system was used for the tournament sponsored by Achut Naik, which included 6 rounds and attracted 78 participants, 20 of whom were rated players.
