MARGAO
The annual 49th All Goa Cycle Race organised by Guirdolim Club in association with Sudesh Bhise and Bros started with Bhise cutting the ribbon and Sameer Nadkarni, president of Xaxti Riders, flagging off the race.
A total of 20 participants from across Goa took part in the cycle race. Kiara Araujo lit up the race by competing with the boys and finishing 13th. A special memento was presented to her by the organisers.
In the Open category, Avinash Shanu Gaonkar from Quepem finished first, clocking 41 minutes 42 seconds, followed by Deepak Ashanagar from Dicarpale (42.55), with the 3rd place taken by Rohit Chodankar (44.15). Rohit Chodankar of Rosary College, Navelim won the 1st place in the College category, with the second place going to Chetan Karambalkar of Guardian Angel College and 3rd place going to Akash Yadav of Rosary College, Navelim. In the 45+ category, veteran cyclist Antonio Fernandes won the 1st place while Sanroy Fernandes won the first place among the Chandor Guirdolim participants.
At the valedictory function, Patwin Fizardo, president of Guirdolim Club welcomed while Joao Fernandes, Dy Sarpanch of Guirdolim, presided over it. Chief guest Sudesh Bhise addressed the audience in the presence of Gavin Araujo, Dexter Fernandes, Brian Pereira and Atanasio Antao. A vote of thanks was proposed by Darwin Cardoso, general secretary of Guirdolim Club.
