Carmona Sports Club emerged as champions of the V M Salgaocar Memorial Coastal Villages Relay Race 2022 from Cavelossim to Betalbatim organised by Prime Sports Club.
Carmona made a slow start with Benaulim leading in the first lap but immediately surrendered the position at the second lap from Orlim Panchayat to Varca Sports Club Building. Colva who were in front were taken over by Carmona at the 5th lap at Holy Trinity Church Benaulim and thereafter won the race on a canter with a timing of 1 hour and 1 minute.
Betalbatim Sporting Club, managed by Chadwick Furtado, came second 9 minutes later and Colva finished third. FC Benaulim, St Cruz SC Cavelossim and AA de Majorda took the 4th, 5th and 6th positions respectively. The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 7,000 while the runners-up got Rs 5,000.
