Sporting Club Davorlim got the better of Betalbatim SC 3-1 to move ahead in the Goa Tiger Cup 2022 All-Goa Inter-Village football tournament, organised by Goa United Sports Academy at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Saturday.
The teams started on a cautious note and tried to establish their supremacy in midfield. Betalbatim were successful and took the lead through Oliver D’Souza in the 23rd minute. However, Davorlim reorganised and Man-of-the-Match Cidroy levelled the terms in the very next minute.
They were boosted and had the upper hand in the second half. Soon, Reeve D’Costa gave them the lead in the 48th minute and Cidroy scored another in the 56th minute to complete his brace.
At Calangute, Dunes SC, Mandrem got the better of PVC Parra 4-2 via the tie-breaker at Poriat ground, Calangute. The teams were locked goalless at full time. In the penalty shootout, Dunes scored through Shashank Aswekar, Sylvester Dias, Hrishikesh Kinalekar and Alberto Britto. Parra netted through Joston Cardoz and Shubham Malvankar. Hrishikesh Kinalekar of Dunes was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
Meanwhile, Fatorda Veterans defeated Viva Veterans 4-0 in the veterans category at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim. Charles Rodrigues gave Fatorda the lead in the 12th minute. Viva tried hard to bounce back but Uday Naik scored the second for Fatorda in the 27th minute and Vincent Barbosa netted the third five minutes later. Santano Colaco rounded off the tally with a fine strike in the 45th minute. Viva’s Brandon Lobo was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
