MARGAO: Carmona SC got the better of Navelim Sporting Club via sudden death 8-7 in the all-Goa inter-village Football tournament organized by United Club of Utorda in memory of their late member, Nicholas Rodrigues, at Utorda.
Carmona forged ahead in the 9th minute. Navelim drew level through Zidane Fernandes in the 12th minute. Navelim went ahead through Noel in the 18th minute, and Carmona equalized through Daryl Estebeiro in the 22nd minute. At half time, the score stood at 2-2.
After the resumption, both teams displayed good soccer skills to score a goal but in vain. and a tie-breaker was applied. Christian Estkikho, Wilber Matos, Edvil Alonso, Darrow Estebeiro, Sritan Furtado, and Dezwin Dias scored for Carmona Sports Club, while Zidane Fernandes, Aden Pereira, Fredon Gomes, Noah Luis, and Meliston Dias converted for Navelim Sporting Club. The Man of the Match was awarded to Neil D Cruz of Carmona Sports Club by the Chief Guest, Dr Samson Corriera.
