Chandrawaddo Boys, Fatorda registered a solitary goal win over Rebello Pandal Maina to enter the semi-finals of 17th all Goa Rebello Pandal open football tournament, organised by Rebello Pandal Maina, at St Rita Church ground, Maina, on Tuesday.
In first quarter of the match, Chandrawaddo striker Francis Andrade unleashed a powerful left footer from 30-yard that hit the cross bar and went out of play in the 15th minute. Rebello's Shelton Fernandes' free-kick was punched away by Chandrawaddo goalkeeper Carol Soares before half time.
Changing over, Chandrawaddo's Minguel Barreto came up with a goal-line shoot from Rebello's William Niasso's attempt in the 40th minute. The all important goal came from Hanshlum Furtado's header who was well fed by Francisco Andrade in 50th minute. Rebello Pandal mounted pressure on the Chandrawaddo defence through Joaquim Carvalho, William Niasso and Shelton Fernandes to find the equaliser but the Chandrawaddo defence of Roque Borges, Cliff Barreto and Minguel Barreto stood firm to deny the much wanted goal.
Pedro Fernandes a veteran football lover presented the man of the match to Shelton Fernandes of Rebello Pandal.
