YC Manora prevail over Mandopa SC

In an intriguing game of football, Youth Club of Manora edged past Mandopa Sporting Club 3-1 in the GFA First Division League encounter, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.

Youth Club of Manora started the match with an early attack as Bhaskar Roy showcased his skills, outmaneuvering from left wing in an attempt got off the mark in the 22nd minute. Spurred by the early success, Beckam Faleiro's rasping shot miss the target for the winners.

Mandopa Sporting Club on the other side came forward to create some chances for themselves in hopes to score and in the 45th plus fifth minute Frenden Pires equalised when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.

Crossing over, Youth Club of Manora displayed their team work as Mandopa's Jozwan Cardozo while trying to avert danger put the ball into his own net in the 55th minute. After taking a 2-1 lead, Sweeden Barbosa's shot found the roof of the net in the 77th minute.

In another match, at Cansaulim Sports Complex, Nuvem Sports Club came from behind to hold Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 1-1. Allister Monteiro broke the deadlock for Sao Jose de Areal in the 55th minute while Nuvem SC neutralised the lead in the 90th plus third minute Godfrey Mascarenhas send the rival goalkeeper in wrong way with the resultant spot kick.

Cuncolim Union to appeal one-year ban

MargaoCuncolim Union will appeal the one-year long ban imposed on the club by Goa Football Association for fielding an illegible player at an inter village football tournament semi-final match in Assolna.With the club which is currently taking part in the First Division League, the second tier of Goan football league withdraw their team as a protest over the ban and invite more sanctions from the football governing body in the state.
