Compassion FC, participating for the first time in athletics for girls and women's events with their football players, won the women’s and girls overall championship at the 54th Padma Bhushan Manohar Parrikar Goa State Athletic Championships held at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.
In the women's category, Arya Madhu claimed the gold medal in high jump. Shubhali Gaonkar won the silver medal in 800m run while Farissa Nunes won the silver medals in 100m and 200m run. The women's team won two silver medals in the 4x100m and 4x400 relays with Farissa, Shubhali, Annu and Cia Almeida claiming the shorter sprint relay and Shubali, Joyvi, Leifa and Anelia running the longer relay.
In under-20 girls category, Elika D’Souza won two golds in the 100m and 400m hurdles events. Sakshi Antao won the first place in 10,000m walk and the gold in the high jump events. Aniela Baretto won the second place in the 400m run and third place in 800m run. Flani and Reeze Fernandes won the second and third place in the long jump. Reeze Fernandes finished with the silver in the 100m hurdles.
In the girls under-18 category, Pradnya Gaonkar won the long jump third place. In the girls under-16 field, Nividha Gaonkar won the first place in shot put. Merecia Tavares won the 2nd place in 100m run and Tejasvi was 2nd in the 3000m walk. Sunaina Gaonkar won third in 2000m. The girls finished in third position in the medley relay (Guel, Aditi, Deana & Angel). In the girls under-12 section, Sahana Gaonkar won the high jump gold. In the girls under-14 competition, Antara Gaonkar finished second in 600m while Prachita finished third in high jump.
Earl Fernandes was the manager of the team and the team received some guidance from Jeetendra Lotlikar, former national sprint champion from Mumbai who is with the Western Railways.
