Cuncolim Union beat Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna in sudden death 6-5 and moved into the semifinals of the Rising Cup 2022 football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotto Cuncolim at Cuncolim ground on Friday.
Rossman Cruz Nagoa opened the scoreline through Imamsab Guledgudda in the 9th minute. In the second half, Cuncolim Union equalised in the dying minutes through Sharfaraz Shaikh. In the tiebreaker, Cuncolim Union netted through Melvin Fernandes, Denvil Fernandes, Dailon Carvalho, Trijoy Dias and Bharat Gaonkar and for Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna, Noel Dsilva, Andrus Jhon, Imamsab Guledgudda and Frazier Rodrigues scored.
The Man of the match award was presented to Hilton Fernandes of Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna at the hands of Brian Gama, club member. Cuncolim Union will meet Chandor Club in the semifinals on November 7.
DBO Fatorda seal last-four spot
Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda got the better of UBD Colva 2-1 and moved into the semifinals of the Cana Benaulim Panchayat Cup 2022 at St John Baptist ground, Dando Benaulim on Friday.
Fatorda dominated the first half and netted the first goal through Maxwell Furtado's glancing header in the 29th minute. In the second half, Colva dominated the proceedings and Dylan Lourenco powerful shot hit the rival post and went out of play in the 59th minute. Millsner Baretto of Fatorda netted the second goal in the 60th minute. Lasir Khan pulled a goal back for Colva in the 70th minute.
Tendulkar gives pep talk to Goan players
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar visited Dr Rajenda Prasad Stadium here recently. The legend witnessed the Goa Ranji cricket camp probables in action at the Stadium. He discussed with the players and showed them the finer points. The morale of the players was boosted by Tendulkar's presence. Tendulkar was presented a flower bouquet by Yogesh Naik, president of Margao Cricket. The boys were put through their paces by coach Mansur Ali Khan.
Nanda Lolyekar cricket tourney from Nov 12
The 41st edition of Nanda Lolyekar season ball cricket tournament will begin from November 12 . The tournament is organised by Mashem Cricket Club and sponsored by Commonwealth Developers, Margao. This is one of the prestigious tournaments in the State and only clubs registered with Goa Cricket Association can participate in the tournament. Matches of the tournament will be played on Saturdays Sundays and public holidays.
The clubs registered with the GCA and interested in participating in the tournament can contact Santosh Satarkar (9423310789) or Datta Lolayekar (9422640640). The matches will be played at Nirakar Ground Dapot, Mashem.
